meta.83 = christoph wieland. he has lived in hamburg since 1995. christoph’s early musical interests were focused on guitar music but he then entered a new musical period: electronic music. a passion for old synths and drum computers shapes meta.83’s special way of producing tracks. he uses neither a computer nor a multitrack-system: the music is recorded in one take on a stereo track and is cut to the final version afterwards. large-scale construction with the computer is often a waste of time. it deeply affects the original idea – spontaneity is and will be the most important part of the creative process. other important elements of the creative process: sound-aesthectics, rhythm, melody and room for sound…

antrieb, which means „drive“, is defined by its spatiality and restraint. the synths force their way through a thicket of digital reverb and are driven by a dry but unyielding rhythm foundation.
end titles is the music for the ending of a fictitious film. the melancholy melodies that form part of the track are repeatedly punctuated by rays of hope.
metalgroove is rich with delicate sounds that fuse into a funky but mysterious unity. the production of tanzstudie, which means „dance-study“, goes a little bit off the beaten track. this track is raw, dirty, funky and somehow different from the others – whether the track is as much fun on the dance floor as it was during the production „the study“ will show. . .
